    About Our Program

    Our foster families receive:

    • Specialized training and preparation
    • Wrap-around therapeutic and case management services
    • 24/7, on-call assistance
    • Foster care reimbursement paid monthly
    • Access to foster parent support groups
    • Scheduled “free” time from fostering
    • Free family enrichment activities
    • Referral incentives
    • Access to Village Pharmacy, located on the Home’s campus
    • Access to Norton Children’s Medical Group, located on the Home’s campus
    • This is temporary placement for children who cannot safely remain with their birth family.
    • Therapeutic foster care is designed for children with complex trauma who often exhibit challenging and disruptive behaviors that may require therapy and/or medication.
    • Currently, 9,000+ children are in out-of-home care in Kentucky.
    • Reunification is the main goal when it can be done safely—with adoption being possible when it is not.
    • The average referral age is 9 years old, but we also see placement needs for older youth.
    • Participating children under 5 years old usually have medical complexities, have severe emotional/behavioral concerns, or are part of a sibling group.
    • Must be 21 years of age or older
    • Must have access to reliable transportation
    • Must prove financial stability
    • All household members must pass a background check
    • Household members must be in reasonably good mental and physical health

As part of our Foster Care program, Project Keepsafe provides guardians the opportunity to seek treatment for addiction, mental health concerns, or physical illness by voluntarily placing their children in one of our licensed therapeutic foster homes. Children remain in the guardian’s custody while in our care.
