Home of the Innocents is the state’s largest emergency placement center. That means our staff is ready 24 hours a day to offer a safe place for children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse, abandonment or neglect.
But we offer so much more. Whether a child stays with us a few days or for years, he or she becomes part of our family. Our children are given individual treatment plans, which include using the latest in one-on-one therapies.
Beyond that, our kids attend community schools, go on supervised field trips, share in household chores, play video games, “hang out” in the backyard – just like any other kid.
The “next step” for each of these children is as varied as the children themselves. Some of the children may be reunified with family, if the child’s state-appointed social worker approves. Some may be placed with another family member. And some are given a chance for a new family through our Therapeutic Loving foster Care (TLC) program.
We care for children age infant to 18. And for those who have “aged out” of the Home, we offer our Aftercare program, which teaches independent living skills so these young adults can make the challenging transition to the “real world.”
