From Autism Speaks:
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and autism are both general terms for a group of complex disorders of brain development. These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors.
A child’s diagnosis with autism can be devastating, but with the right interventions, it can be treatable. Home of the Innocents offers Applied Behavior Analysis services to children and their families in Kentucky and southern Indiana. This therapy, also called ABA, is the only treatment for autism that has been consistently validated by independent research. ABA has been endorsed as an effective intervention for autism by the Academy of Pediatrics and the United States Surgeon General, as well as by the National Autism Center, which endorsed elements used in ABA therapy as “established treatments.”
To better offer our community this therapy, our staff has extensive training, and utilize Applied Behavior Analysis and related strategies, including: parent education, early intervention, Verbal Behavior programming, Functional Communication Training, Discrete Trial Training, and Natural Environment Training. All clients receive an individualized therapy plan, based upon a Functional Behavior Assessment conducted by one of our licensed, Board Certified Behavior Analysts. Our goal is to not only address behaviors and skill deficits, but to also help facilitate healthy, cohesive, thriving families.
We currently provide services in the Kentuckiana area, including Louisville metro, Elizabethtown/Ft. Knox and southern Indiana. For more information, please contact our Referral and Intake Coordinator at 502-596-1070.
